ELECTORAL ACT 1992 - SECT 167

In this part:

"Antarctica" means—

        (a)     the Australian Antarctic Territory; or

        (b)     the Territory of Heard Island and McDonald Islands; or

        (c)     Macquarie Island.

"assistant returning officer", in relation to a station, means the assistant returning officer appointed under section 168 in relation to the station.

"research personnel" means personnel who are to be, or have been, engaged in work at a station.

"returning officer", in relation to a station, means the returning officer appointed under section 168 in relation to the station.

"station" means—

        (a)     a research station in Antarctica that is operated by the Commonwealth and is declared by the commissioner, in writing, to be a permanent research station; or

        (b)     in relation to a particular election, a ship that is declared by the commissioner, in writing, to be a station for this part in relation to the election.

"transmit "means transmit by fax or in another way approved under section 167B.
