PARENTAGE ACT 2004 - SECT 6

Purpose of pt 2

This part sets out presumptions about parentage and provides for the Supreme Court to make a parentage declaration that establishes who is a parent of a child.

Note     Parent is defined in the Legislation Act

, dict, pt 1 as follows:

"parent", of a child, means—

(a)     the child's mother; or

(b)     the child's father; or

(c)     someone else who is presumed under the Parentage Act 2004, part 2 to be a parent of the child.
