Commonwealth Consolidated Acts Commonwealth Consolidated Acts After a candidate is elected in accordance with subsection
274(7) in a House of Representatives election, the Electoral Commission
may, for the purpose of obtaining information, give the Divisional Returning
Officer who conducted the scrutiny directions for the examination of the
second and later preferences of candidates and for the distribution of those
preferences in a manner specified in the directions, and the Divisional
Returning Officer shall comply with those directions.
