Commonwealth Consolidated Acts Commonwealth Consolidated Acts(1) A maritime officer may arrest a person if the officer suspects , on reasonable grounds, that the person has committed an indictable offence against an Australian law.
Note: For dealing with a person who has been arrested, see section 100 .
(2) The person must be released from arrest if, before the
person is charged with the offence, the officer ceases to suspect, on
reasonable grounds , that the person committed the offence.
