Commonwealth Consolidated Acts Commonwealth Consolidated Acts(a) a person is receiving carer allowance (other than because of this section or section 954B) for a care receiver who is a disabled child or for care receivers who are 2 disabled children; and
(b) the disabled child or one of the disabled children dies; and
(c) the person is not qualified under section 992J for carer allowance for the disabled child or disabled children;
the person is to be qualified for carer allowance for the period of 4 weeks that starts on the day on which the child died as if the child had not died and had received the care and attention referred to in paragraph 953(1)(d) or 953(2)(d) (as the case may be).
(2) The rate at which the carer allowance is to be paid during
the 4 week period is the rate at which the allowance was payable to the person
immediately before the day on which the child died.
