FAMILY LAW ACT 1975 No. 53 of 1975 - SECT 29

Appellate jurisdiction.
29. (1) The Family Court has jurisdiction to hear and determine-

   (a)  appeals referred to in section 94; and

   (b)  appeals from judgments of the Family Court, constituted otherwise than
        as a Full Court, in the exercise of jurisdiction otherwise than under
        this Act.

(2) The Family Court has jurisdiction to hear and determine appeals under
section 96 except where the Supreme Court of a State has jurisdiction to hear
such appeals.

(3) Subject to section 96, in an appeal the Court shall have regard to the
evidence given in the proceedings out of which the appeal arose and has power
to draw inferences of fact and, in its discretion, to receive further evidence
upon questions of fact, which evidence may be given by affidavit, by oral
examination before the Court or a Judge or in such other manner as the Court
may direct.
