STATUTORY RULES 1995 No. 28

Agricultural And Veterinary Chemicals (Administration) Act 1992

Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals (Administration) Regulations

Section 73 of the Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals (Administration) Act 1992 (the Act) provides that the Governor-General may make regulations for the purpose of the Act.

The Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals (Administration) Bill 1992 was passed as the first step in the implementation of the National Registration Scheme for agricultural and veterinary chemicals.

The purpose of the regulations is to prescribe several minor matters required by the Act.

The regulations

-       prescribe the annual amounts of active ingredients, for agricultural and veterinary chemicals, in excess of which importers, exporters and suppliers must provide an annual return to the National Registration Authority for Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals (NRA) in respect to those chemicals

-       prescribe a form of search warrant for use by inspectors enforcing the Act.
