Australian Postal Corporation Amendment Regulations 1999 (No. 1)

Background

Section 102 of the Australian Postal Corporation Act 1989 (the Act) provides for regulations to be made under the Act.

The purpose of the regulations is to correct an error in the Australian Postal Corporation Amendment Regulations 1998 (No. 1) (the Amendment Regulations) which commenced on 22 December 1998. Item 1 of Schedule 1 of the Amendment Regulations referred to the name of the regulations made under section 102 of the Act as the Australian Postal Corporation Regulations 1989. The name of the regulations should be Australian Postal Corporation Regulations 1996.

Details of the Regulations are set out in the Attachment.

The Regulations are taken to have commenced on 22 December 1998.

Regulation 1 - Name of regulations

The regulation provides that these Regulations are the Australian Postal Corporation Amendment Regulations 1999 (No. 1).

Regulation 2 - Commencement

The regulation provides that the Regulations are taken to have commenced on 22 December 1998, the date that the Australian Postal Corporation Amendment Regulations 1998 (No.1) commenced.

Regulation 3 - Amendment of Australian Postal Corporation Amendment Regulations 1998 (No. 1)

The regulation provides that Schedule 1 amends the Australian Postal Corporation Amendment Regulations 1998 (No. 1).

Schedule 1 - Amendment

Item 1 - Schedule 1, item 1

The item substitutes item 1 of Schedule 1 of the Australian Postal Corporation Amendment Regulations 1998 (No. 1) with an item which correctly refers to the name of the regulations made under section 102 of the Australian Postal Corporation Act 1989 as the Australian Postal Corporation Regulations 1996.
