DRUG AND ALCOHOL TREATMENT ACT 2007 - SECT 21
Leave of absence on compassionate, medical or other grounds
21 Leave of absence on compassionate, medical or other grounds
(1) An accredited medical practitioner may permit a dependent person to be
absent from a treatment centre for the period, and on the conditions, the
practitioner thinks fit.
(2) Permission may be given on any grounds the
practitioner thinks fit, including, for example, compassionate grounds or that
the dependent person requires medical treatment.
(3) The practitioner may not
grant leave of absence unless the practitioner is satisfied that, as far as is
practicable, adequate measures have been taken to prevent the person from
causing harm to himself or herself or others.
