Directions to police etc by Director
16 Directions to police etc by Director
(1) The Director may, by order in writing, give directions referred to in
subsection (2) to-- (a) the Commissioner of Police, or
(b) any other person
who institutes or conducts prosecutions for offences.
(2) Directions may be
given requiring specified information or kinds of information to be referred
to the Director for the purpose of enabling the Director to consider-- (a)
instituting or carrying on a prosecution or prosecutions for a specified
offence or class of offences,
(b) instituting, carrying on or taking over
proceedings for a specified offence or class of offences, or
(c) instituting,
carrying on or taking over other proceedings in connection with functions
conferred on the Director whether under this Act or otherwise.
(3) A person
to whom such a direction is given shall comply with the direction.
(4) In
this section--
"offence" means an indictable offence or a prescribed summary offence.
