Register of enrolments and attendances
24 Register of enrolments and attendances
(1) The principal of a government school or registered non-government school
must keep a register, in a form approved by the Minister, of the enrolments
and daily attendances of all children at the school.
(1A) The register is to
contain any notification given (or particulars of any notification given)
about the absence of a child from school under section 23 (3) (a).
(2) The
register must be available for inspection during school hours by an inspector
or by any authorised person, who may require the principal of the school to
furnish a copy of the register or any part of it.
(3) When required to do so
by the Minister, the principal of a government school or
registered non-government school must furnish to the Minister information,
within a time and in a form approved by the Minister, concerning the
following-- (a) the enrolment and attendance of children at the school during
a specified period,
(b) any unsatisfactory school attendance by children of
compulsory school-age enrolled at the school.
(4) The particulars of
enrolments and daily attendances recorded in a register under this section
must be retained for such period as the Minister may determine.
(5) A
principal of a government school or registered non-government school who,
without reasonable excuse, fails to comply with a requirement imposed by or
under this section is guilty of an offence. : Maximum penalty--5 penalty
units.
