Abolition of imprisonment as primary enforcement action for fine default

125 Abolition of imprisonment as primary enforcement action for fine default

(1) A person is not liable to be committed to a correctional centre for a failure to pay a fine or other penalty by the due date.
(2) However, a fine defaulter is liable to be committed to a correctional centre in accordance with this Act for a failure to comply with a community correction order or community service order made under Division 5 of Part 4 and served on the fine defaulter under this Act.
