Office and identification of investigator
18 Office and identification of investigator
(1) The Secretary may, by order in writing, appoint an employee as an
investigator for the purposes of this Act and of any other legislation
administered by the Minister and shall provide the employee with a certificate
of identification as an investigator.
(2) An investigator who exercises in
any place or on any land a function conferred by section 19, 19A or 20 shall
produce his or her certificate of identification if requested so to do by a
person apparently in charge there, or apparently in charge of any work being
carried on there.
(3) An investigator shall produce his or her certificate of
identification if requested so to do by a person required to comply with a
notice under section 20.
(4) A requirement under any other legislation
administered by the Minister that a person who is authorised to exercise a
function under the legislation is to produce his or her certificate of
identification (however described) before exercising the function is taken to
have been complied with if-- (a) the person authorised is an investigator, and
(b) the person produces his or her certificate of identification as an
investigator.
