CRIMES (ADMINISTRATION OF SENTENCES) REGULATION 2014 - REG 168
Requests to governor
168 Requests to governor
(1) A correctional officer to whom an oral or written request by an inmate for
permission to speak with the governor is addressed or delivered must, without
unreasonable delay, convey it to the governor.
(2) The governor of a
correctional centre-- (a) to whom a request referred to in subclause (1) is
conveyed, or
(b) to whom an oral or written request by an inmate for
permission to speak with the governor is addressed or delivered directly,
must
give the inmate an opportunity to speak with the governor on the day on which
the request is conveyed or made, or as soon as practicable after that day.
(3) The governor must consider what the inmate has to say and, having done so,
must orally inform the inmate of any action that the governor has taken or
proposes to take or that the governor does not propose to take any action, as
the case may be.
