(1) This section applies if it is necessary or desirable to remove any person from a building or other structure that is to be wholly or partly demolished by a local government under this Act.
(2) For the purpose of removing any person from a building or other structure referred to in subsection (1) —(a) any officer of the local government concerned who is authorised in writing in that behalf by the chief executive officer of the local government may, without other authority than this Act, enter upon such building or other structure and all parts of the building or structure and upon the land on which it stands; and(b) any officer may remove from such building or other structure all persons found in the building or structure, using such force as is reasonably necessary for the purpose.
(3) An officer of a local government mentioned in subsection (2) is a public official for the Police Powers and Responsibilities Act 2000 .
