Reference committee may give commission directions about investigations
29 Reference committee may give commission directions about investigations
(1) The reference committee may give the commission directions imposing
limitations on a crime investigation, including limitations on the exercise of
the commission’s powers for the investigation.
(2) The reference committee
may also direct the commission to end a particular crime investigation if the
committee considers— (a) it may be more appropriate for another entity to
undertake the investigation; or
(b) it may be more effective for another
entity to undertake the investigation; or
(c) investigation by the commission
is not a justifiable use of resources; or
(d) investigation by the commission
is not in the public interest.
(3) The commission must comply with a
direction given under subsection (1) or (2) .
(4) To remove any doubt, it is
declared that section 29 (2) (d) is not limited by section 28 (3) or (4) .
