DOMESTIC AND FAMILY VIOLENCE PROTECTION ACT 2012 - SECT 23
What orders can a court make to prevent domestic violence
(1) A court can make a domestic violence order against a respondent for the
benefit of an aggrieved.
(2) A
"domestic violence order" means— (a) a protection order; or
(b) a
temporary protection order.
(3) A
"temporary protection order" is an order made in the period before a court
decides whether to make a protection order for the benefit of an aggrieved.
(4) Sometimes, the court can make a domestic violence order even though the
person against whom the order is made— (a) is not notified about an
application for a domestic violence order; or
(b) does not appear in court.
