(1) A State school’s, or non-State school’s, principal must ensure that a parent of each child enrolled at the school is given the opportunity, at least twice a year, to discuss the child’s educational performance at the school with the child’s teachers.
(2) Subsection (1) does not apply if the principal is satisfied it would be inappropriate in the circumstances to give the parent the opportunity.Example—It may be inappropriate to give the parent the opportunity if the child is living independently of his or her parents.
