Publication of particular public notices on department’s website

196A Publication of particular public notices on department’s website

(1) This section applies if the registrar is required under this Act to give a public notice, unless the notice is a gazette notice.
(2) This section applies even if this Act provides for a particular way in which the notice must be given.
(3) The registrar must ensure the notice is published on each relevant website for a total of at least 10 business days.
(4) The 10 business days may be, but need not necessarily be, consecutive.
(5) Subsection (3) does not prevent the registrar from also giving the notice in another way the registrar considers appropriate.
(6) In deciding to give the notice in another way, the registrar must consider the intended audience for the notice.
(7) In this section—

"give" , for a notice, includes advertising it.

"notice" includes an advertisement.

"public notice" means a notice of a public nature that is not required only to be given, or only intended for, a particular person or group of persons.

"relevant website" means—
(a) the department’s website; and
(b) for a public notice relating to a titles registry function that has been delegated to the titles registry operator under this Act—the operator’s website.
