24 Offences by witnesses
(1) A person who is given a notice under section 23 must not— (a) fail,
without reasonable excuse, to attend as required by the notice; or
(b) fail,
without reasonable excuse, to continue to attend at the inquiry as required by
the registrar until excused from further attendance.
Penalty— Maximum
penalty—35 penalty units.
(2) A person appearing as a witness at the
inquiry must not— (a) fail to take an oath or make an affirmation when
required by the registrar; or
(b) fail, without reasonable excuse, to answer
a question the person is required to answer by the registrar; or
(c) fail,
without reasonable excuse, to produce a document or thing the person is
required to produce by a notice under section 23 .
Penalty— Maximum
penalty—35 penalty units.
(3) It is a reasonable excuse for a person to
fail to answer a question or produce a document or thing if answering the
question or producing the document or thing might tend to incriminate the
person.
