Power to require production of certain documents
129 Power to require production of certain documents
(1) An authorised person may require a person who holds, or claims to hold, an
accreditation, authorisation, licence or contract under this Act to produce
either or both of the following— (a) the accreditation, authorisation,
licence or contract;
(b) photographic identification issued in official form
in or outside Australia.
(2) An authorised person may require a person to
produce for inspection a document issued, or required to be kept, under the
Transport Infrastructure Act 1994 , chapter 14 or a law of another State or
the Commonwealth about transporting dangerous goods by rail.
(3) The person
must comply with the requirement under subsection (1) or (2) , unless the
person has a reasonable excuse. Penalty— Maximum penalty—60 penalty
units.
(4) The authorised person may keep the document to copy it.
(5) If
the authorised person copies it, the authorised person may ask the person
responsible for keeping the document to certify the copy as a true copy of the
document.
(6) The authorised person must return the document to the person as
soon as practicable after copying it.
