TRANSPORT OPERATIONS (PASSENGER TRANSPORT) ACT 1994 - SECT 129E

129E Period of detention
(1) A transit officer who detains a person under this part must immediately
contact a police officer (
"contacted police officer" ) in relation to the detention of the person.
(2)
If the contacted police officer tells the transit officer to release the
person from the detention, the transit officer must release the person
immediately.
(3) If subsection (2) does not apply, the transit officer may
detain the person at the place where the detention started, or at another
place set aside by the chief executive for the purpose, until a police officer
arrives to deal with the person. Examples for subsection (3)— 1 A person
detained at a train station may continue to be detained at the train station
until a police officer arrives to deal with the person.
2 A person detained
on a train may be moved from the train to a train station and detained at the
train station until a police officer arrives to deal with the person.
(4)
In detaining a child under this part, the transit officer must ensure the
child is detained for the shortest period that is justified in the
circumstances.
