The Parliament of South Australia enacts as
follows:
This Act may be cited as the Animal Welfare (Jumps Racing) Amendment
Act 2011.
This Act will come into operation 1 year after the day on which it is
assented to by the Governor.
In this Act, a provision under a heading referring to the amendment of a
specified Act amends the Act so specified.
Part 2—Amendment
of Animal Welfare
Act 1985
After section 14 insert:
14A—Jumps racing prohibited
(1) A person must not organise, promote or participate in, or participate
in organising or promoting, jumps racing.
Maximum penalty: $20 000 or imprisonment for 2 years.
(2) In this section—
jumps racing means a steeplechase or hurdle race involving
the racing of horses.
