86BStopping and
parking in mail zone
The Parliament of South Australia enacts as
follows:
This Act may be cited as the Road Traffic (Mail Zones) Amendment
Act 2017.
In this Act, a provision under a heading referring to the amendment of a
specified Act amends the Act so specified.
Part 2—Amendment
of Road Traffic
Act 1961
After section 86A insert:
86B—Stopping and parking in mail
zone
(1) This section applies despite rule 186, 199 or any other provision of
the
Australian
Road Rules
, a council by-law made under the
Local
Government Act 1999
, or any other Act or law.
(2) A driver must not
stop in a mail zone between 6 pm and 7 pm on any day (other than a
Saturday).
Expiation fee: $64.
(3) Except as is prohibited under
subsection (2)
, a driver may park in a mail zone at any time.
(4) The Minister must, as soon as is reasonably practicable after the
commencement of this section, by notice in writing, direct each council to
remove or modify such mail zone signs, permissive parking signs or other signs
in their area as may be inconsistent with the operation of this section, and
each council must comply with a direction under this subsection.
(5) A term or phrase used in this section that is defined in the
Australian
Road Rules
has the same meaning as in those rules.
