17—Consent given under law of another jurisdiction
(1) A consent to the
adoption of a child given by a person in accordance with the law of another
State or of a Territory of the Commonwealth will be regarded as a consent
given by the person in accordance with this Act.
(2) Subject to any law
of the Commonwealth, the requirements of this Act relating to consent to
adoption will be taken to have been complied with in relation to the adoption
of a child from a Convention country if the laws of that country relating to
consent to such an adoption have been complied with.
