86B—Use of correctional services dogs
(1) The CE may
authorise an officer or employee of the Department to use a correctional
services dog at a correctional institution or probation and parole hostel to
assist in the maintenance of the good order or security of the institution or
hostel.
(2) Without limiting
subsection (1), a correctional services dog may be used for any of the
following purposes:
(a) to
carry out a search at a correctional institution or probation and
parole hostel (including a search of an officer or employee of the Department)
for any reason;
(b) to
track an escaped prisoner;
(c) to
patrol a correctional institution or probation and parole hostel;
(d) to
restrain a prisoner;
(e) to
assist a police officer in the execution of the police officer's functions at
a correctional institution or probation and parole hostel.
