89A—Court may order interim suspension of legal practitioner or impose
interim conditions
If—
(a)
disciplinary proceedings have been instituted against a legal practitioner
before the Tribunal or the Supreme Court or a legal practitioner has been
charged with or convicted of a criminal offence; and
(b) the
Supreme Court is satisfied that the circumstances are such as to justify
invoking the provisions of this section,
the Supreme Court may, on its own initiative or on the application of the
Commissioner, the Attorney-General or the Society, make an interim
order—
(c)
imposing conditions on the legal practitioner's practising certificate
(whether a practising certificate under this Act or an interstate practising
certificate) relating to the practitioner's legal practice; or
(d)
suspending the legal practitioner's practising certificate (whether a
practising certificate under this Act or an interstate practising
certificate),
until disciplinary proceedings against the practitioner have been finalised or
until further order.
