139—Duty of mortgagee of leasehold entering into possession of rent and
profits to account
Any mortgagee or encumbrancee of leasehold land, or any person claiming any
such land as a purchaser or otherwise, from or under such mortgagee or
encumbrancee, shall, after entering into possession of the land, or receiving
the rents and profits thereof, during such possession, or receipt, and to the
extent of any rents and profits which may be received by him, become and be
subject and liable to the lessor of the land, or the person for the time being
entitled to the lessor's estate or interest therein, or entitled to receive
the rent reserved to such lessor to the same extent as the lessee was subject
and liable prior to such mortgagee, encumbrancee, or other person entering
into the possession of the land, or the rents or profits thereof.
