297—Driver to have proper control of a vehicle etc
(1) A driver must not
drive a vehicle unless the driver has proper control of the vehicle.

(1A) A driver must not
drive a vehicle if a person or an animal is in the driver's lap.

(2) A driver must not
drive a motor vehicle unless the driver has a clear view of the road, and
traffic, ahead, behind and to each side of the driver.

(3) The rider of a
motor bike must not ride with an animal on the motor bike between the rider
and the handlebars, or in another position that interferes with the rider's
ability to control the motor bike or to have a clear view of the road.

(4) Subrule (3) does
not apply to the rider of a motor bike who rides with an animal between the
rider and the handlebars for a distance of not more than 500 metres on a
road for the purpose of a farming activity that the rider is carrying out.
