86—Prohibition on overloading public passenger vehicle
(1) The driver of a
public passenger vehicle must not—
(a)
carry in the vehicle at any 1 time a greater number of passengers than the
total number authorised to be carried, whether seated or standing; or
(b)
carry at any 1 time in a bus a greater number of passengers seated than the
number authorised to be carried seated in the bus; or
(c)
carry at any 1 time in a bus a greater number of passengers standing than the
number authorised to be carried standing.
Maximum penalty: $750.
Expiation fee: $105.
(2) The number of
passengers who, for the purposes of this regulation, are authorised to be
carried seated, or are authorised to be carried standing, is—
(a) a
number shown on the certificate of inspection under section 54 of the Act
or Part 4A of the Road Traffic Act 1961 ; or
(b) a
number determined by the Minister in relation to the relevant vehicle.
