ANIMAL WELFARE AMENDMENT BILL 2011 (Brought in by the Minister for Primary Industries and Water, the Honourable Bryan Alexander Green) A BILL FOR An Act to amend the Animal Welfare Act 1993 Be it enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows: 1. Short title This Act may be cited as the Animal Welfare Amendment Act 2011. 2. Commencement This Act commences on the day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent. 3. Principal Act In this Act, the Animal Welfare Act 1993* is referred to as the Principal Act. *No. 63 of 1993 [Bill 55] 3

 


 

Animal Welfare Amendment Act 2011 Act No. of s. 4 4. Section 39 amended (Membership of Advisory Committee) Section 39 of the Principal Act is amended as follows: (a) by omitting from subsection (1)(b) "the Secretary of the responsible Department" and substituting "a person nominated by the Secretary of the responsible Department"; (b) by omitting from subsection (1)(c) "the Secretary of the responsible Department" and substituting "a person nominated by the Secretary of the responsible Department"; (c) by inserting the following subsection after subsection (3): (3A) The Secretary of a responsible Department referred to in paragraph (b), (c) or (d) of subsection (1) may, with the approval of the Minister, appoint a person as a deputy to the person nominated in paragraph (b), (c) or (d) of subsection (1). 5. Repeal of Act This Act is repealed on the ninetieth day from the day on which it commences. 4 Government Printer, Tasmania
