BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY TRAINING FUND AMENDMENT BILL 2016 This Public Bill originated in the House of Assembly, and, having this day passed, is now ready for presentation to the Legislative Council for its concurrence. SHANE DONNELLY, Clerk of the House 5 May 2016 (Brought in by the Minister for State Growth, the Honourable Matthew Guy Groom) A BILL FOR An Act to amend the Building and Construction Industry Training Fund Act 1990 Be it enacted by Her Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows: 1. Short title This Act may be cited as the Building and Construction Industry Training Fund Amendment Act 2016. 2. Commencement This Act commences on 1 July 2016. [Bill 11] 3

 


 

Building and Construction Industry Training Fund Amendment Act 2016 Act No. of s. 3 3. Principal Act In this Act, the Building and Construction Industry Training Fund Act 1990* is referred to as the Principal Act. 4. Section 7 amended (Functions of the Board) Section 7 of the Principal Act is amended as follows: (a) by omitting from subsection (1) "training" first occurring and substituting "workforce development"; (b) by omitting subsection (2) and substituting the following subsection: (2) In addition to subsection (1), the Board has the following functions: (a) to promote training, and training pathways, in the building and construction industry; (b) to promote the Board, and its aims and activities, to the building and construction industry; *No. 38 of 1990 4

 


 

Building and Construction Industry Training Fund Amendment Act 2016 Act No. of s. 4 (c) to liaise with appropriate training organisations and other bodies; (d) to advise on, and provide input into, the development of training, and training pathways, within the building and construction industry; (e) to review and evaluate existing training, and training pathways, within the building and construction industry; (f) to promote equality of access to training, and training pathways, within the building and construction industry; (g) to promote productivity, career opportunities and work safety within the building and construction industry through training and workforce development planning and pathways; (h) to facilitate access to employer-provided 5

 


 

Building and Construction Industry Training Fund Amendment Act 2016 Act No. of s. 5 training in the building and construction industry; (i) to facilitate the equitable distribution, amongst employers in the building and construction industry, of resources relating to employment-related training; (j) to facilitate the training of builders to improve skills and knowledge within the building and construction industry. 5. Section 24 amended (Exemption for certain work) Section 24 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting "$12 000" and substituting "$20 000". 6. Repeal of Act This Act is repealed on the three hundred and sixty fifth day from the day on which it commences. 6 Government Printer, Tasmania
