ELECTORAL AMENDMENT (BALLOT PAPERS) BILL 2009 (Brought in by the Honourable Donald George Wing) A BILL FOR An Act to amend the Electoral Act 2004 Be it enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows: 1. Short title This Act may be cited as the Electoral Amendment (Ballot Papers) Act 2009. 2. Commencement This Act commences on the day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent. 3. Principal Act In this Act, the Electoral Act 2004* is referred to as the Principal Act. *No. 51 of 2004 [Bill 89] 3

 


 

Electoral Amendment (Ballot Papers) Act 2009 Act No. of s. 4 4. Section 100 substituted Section 100 of the Principal Act is repealed and the following section is substituted: 100. Instructions on ballot papers (1) Instructions on the ballot paper for an Assembly election are to - (a) accurately reflect the requirements of section 102(1); and (b) indicate that the elector's vote will not count unless the elector numbers at least 5 boxes. (2) Instructions on the ballot paper for a Council election are to - (a) accurately reflect the requirements of section 102(2); and (b) indicate that the elector's vote will not count unless the elector numbers at least the number of boxes required under section 102(2)(a). 5. Repeal of Act This Act is repealed on the ninetieth day from the day on which it commences. 4 Government Printer, Tasmania
