PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE AMENDMENT BILL 2008 (Brought in by the Honourable Suzanne Deidre Napier) A BILL FOR An Act to amend the Public Works Committee Act 1914 to ensure that The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Works has the responsibility to inquire into any relevant proposed public work, the cost of which is to be defrayed from the Public Account of the State Be it enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows: 1. Short title This Act may be cited as the Public Works Committee Amendment Act 2008. 2. Commencement This Act commences on the day on which it receives the Royal Assent. 3. Principal Act In this Act, the Public Works Committee Act 1914* is referred to as the Principal Act. 4. Section 15 amended (Functions of Committee) Section 15 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting from subsection (1) "Loan Fund" and substituting "Public Account". _____________________________________________________________ *No. 32 of 1914 3
