CLAUSE NOTES Building (Consequential Amendments) Bill 2016 Clause 1: Short title Sets out the name of the proposed Act. Clause 2: Commencement Will commence on the same day as the Building Act 2016. Provision is made for certain clauses not to commence if related legislation has not yet commenced. Clause 3: Consequential amendments of statutory rules do not prevent their subsequent amendment Allows for further amendment of statutory rules following the commencement of this Act. Clause 4: Administration of Act The administration of this Act is assigned to the Minister for Building and Construction through the Department of Justice. Clause 5: Consequential Amendments The legislation specified in Schedule 1 is amended. References to the Building Act 2000 are replaced by the Building Act 2016. References to building and plumbing regulations are updated to refer to Building Regulations 2016 and Plumbing Regulations 2016. Clause 6: Consequential Amendments The legislation specified in Schedule 2 is amended. References to the Building Act 2000 are replaced by the Building Act 2016. References to building and plumbing regulations are updated to refer to Building Regulations 2016 and Plumbing Regulations 2016. Clause 7: Consequential Amendments The legislation specified in Schedule 3 is amended. References to the Building Act 2000 are replaced by the Building Act 2016.
