                              CLAUSE NOTES



PART 1     PRELIMINARY
Clause 1   Short title
           Education Amendment Bill 2009
           The Act may be cited as the Education Amendment Act 2009
Clause 2   Commencement
           On proclamation
Clause 3   Principal Act
           The Education Act 1994 is referred to as the Principal Act
Clause 4   Section 46 amended (Education before compulsory education)
           Provides for the Secretary to allow children under the age of four years to be
           enrolled at a government school.
           This amendment clarifies the meaning of the Act and will enable long standing
           custom and practice in the best in interests of the child to continue.


Clause 5   Repeal of Act
           Provides for this Act to be repealed after 90 days by which time the Principal
           Act will have been amended.
