ELECTRICITY SUPPLY INDUSTRY AMENDMENT BILL 2010
NOTES ON CLAUSES
Clause 1 Short title.
Clause 2 Fixes the date of commencement of the Act as being the day on
which it receives Royal Assent.
Clause 3 Refers to the Electricity Supply Industry Act 1995 as the Principal
Act.
Clause 4 Repeals section 37A of the Electricity Supply Industry Act 1995.
Section 37A sets an expiry date of 31 December 2010 for Division 3
of the Electricity Supply Industry Act 1995, which establishes a
power for the Treasurer to impose restrictions on how Hydro
Tasmania bids Basslink into the National Electricity Market.
The repeal of section 37A therefore allows Division 3 to remain in
the Act.
Clause 5 Provides that this Act will be repealed after 90 days.
