             PEDAL CYCLES) BILL 2014
                                    CLAUSE NOTES



Clause 1        Short title



Clause 2        Commencement



This clause provides for the commencement of the Vehicle and Traffic Amendment
(Power Assisted Pedal Cycles) Bill 2014 on the date the Act receives Royal Assent.



Clause 3        The Principal Act



The Principal Act is the Vehicle and Traffic Act 1999.



Clause 4        Interpretation



The Amendment adds a power-assisted pedal cycle to the list of vehicles that are
excluded from the definition of a motor vehicle under Section 3(1) of the Vehicle and
Traffic Act 1999 allowing them to be legally used as a bicycle on Tasmania's roads.


Clause 5        Repeal of Act


This Act is repealed on the three hundred and sixty fifth day from the day on which it
commences.
