(1)  If, after proper notice that a costs assessment will take place, a party to the assessment does not attend, the costs assessor may proceed with the assessment in the absence of that party.

(2)  If before giving an itemised bill the law practice had previously given a lump sum bill, on a costs assessment the law practice is not bound by the amount and matters stated in the lump sum bill.
