MINERAL RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT ACT 1995 - SECT 65

Term of extended licence

(1)  A licence extended under section 64 , unless revoked earlier or unless the term of the licence is extended under this section, is in force for a period, not exceeding 5 years, as the Minister determines.
(2)  If an application to extend a licence is granted before the licence ceases to be in force, the period referred to in subsection (1) starts on the day the licence ceases to be in force.
(3)  If an application to extend a licence is not granted before the licence ceases to be in force, the licence –
(a) is taken to continue to be in force until the application is granted, refused or withdrawn, whichever occurs first; and
(b) if extended, continues in force from the date on which it ceases to be in force until the end of the period referred to in subsection (1) .
