(1)  The Secretary, if of the opinion that any pest or disease may have a significant environmental impact, is to consult with the Director of National Parks and Wildlife within the meaning of the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1970 before performing any function or exercising any power under this Act in relation to that pest or disease.

(2)  Inrespect of a function or power referred to in subsection (1) , the Secretary may –

(a) require the assistance of a person appointed or employed for the purposes of the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1970 to assist in the exercise or performance of that function or power; or

(b) delegate to that person the exercise or performance of that function.
