Victorian Current Acts Victorian Current Acts(1) If a corporate accused does not appear on the date and at the time specified in an order under section 144(2)(d), the court, may, in its absence, proceed with the trial and, if applicable, proceed to hear and determine a summary offence under Division 1 of Part 5.8 if—
(a) the court is satisfied that a notice under section 148 or 173 has been served on the accused; and
(b) the court considers that it is appropriate to do so.
(2) If the court conducts a trial in the absence of a corporate accused, the court may dispense with or vary any requirement imposed by or under this Part.
