DOMESTIC BUILDING CONTRACTS ACT 1995 - SECT 48

Who may be appointed as an assessor?

S. 48(1) amended by No. 47/2019 s. 14(1).

    (1)     The chief dispute resolution officer may appoint as an assessor

        (a)     an architect registered under the Architects Act 1991 ;

        (b)     a building practitioner registered under the Building Act 1993 in a prescribed category or class;

S. 48(1)(ba) inserted by No. 26/2019 s. 133.

        (ba)     an endorsed building engineer within the meaning of the Professional Engineers Registration Act 2019 ;

        (c)     a person in a prescribed class of persons.

    (2)     A person appointed under subsection (1) may be—

        (a)     a person employed under Part 3 of the Public Administration Act 2004 ; or

        (b)     a person engaged for that purpose by the chief dispute resolution officer.
