LEGAL PROFESSION UNIFORM LAW APPLICATION ACT 2014 - SECT 144

Funding of law-related services and activities

    (1)     The Victorian Legal Services Board may pay out of the Public Purpose Fund to any person or body an amount determined by the Victorian Legal Services Board with the approval of the Attorney-General to be applied by the person or body for any of the following purposes—

        (a)     law reform;

        (b)     legal education;

        (c)     judicial education;    

        (d)     legal research;

        (da)     innovative improvements to access to justice;

        (e)     any purpose relating to the legal profession or the law that the Victorian Legal Services Board considers appropriate.

    (2)     If the Attorney-General refuses to give approval for a payment under subsection (1), he or she must give the Victorian Legal Services Board a written statement of reasons for the refusal.

    (3)     The Attorney-General may each financial year direct the Victorian Legal Services Board to pay an amount out of the Public Purpose Fund to the Victorian Law Reform Commission established under the Victorian Law Reform Commission Act 2000 .

    (4)     The Victorian Legal Services Board must comply with a direction given under subsection (3).
