SEX OFFENDERS REGISTRATION ACT 2004 - SECT 68

Registrable offender excluded from child-related employment

S. 68(1) amended by Nos 57/2005 s. 51(3), 25/2017 s. 44(2).

    (1)     A registrable offender must not—

        (a)     apply for; or

        (b)     engage in—

employment that is child-related employment.

Penalty:     240 penalty units or imprisonment for 2 years.

    (2)     In a proceeding for an offence against subsection (1), it is a defence to the charge for the accused to prove that, at the time the offence is alleged to have been committed, he or she did not know that the employment was child-related employment.
