Disclosure of information by consultative councils24A. Disclosure of information by consultative councils (1) A person who is or has been a member, officer or employee of a prescribed consultative council must not, without- (a) the consent of the person from whom the information was obtained; and (b) the approval of the Minister- disclose to any other person any information obtained in the course of or in connexion with membership of, or employment by, the consultative council. Penalty: 5 penalty units. (2) Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in this or any other Act, a person who has obtained information in the course of, or in connexion with, membership of, or employment by, a prescribed consultative council is neither competent nor compellable in any proceedings to answer any question or produce any document relating to any such information except with the approval of the Minister. (2A) Subsection (2) has effect despite anything to the contrary in section 12 of the Audit Act 1994. (3) Nothing in this section prevents a prescribed consultative council from including information in any document that does not contain any particulars which would lead to the identification of a person from whom or in relation to whom the information was obtained.
