A Bill for
An Act to amend the Criminal Investigation Act 2006.
The Parliament of Western Australia enacts as follows:

1 1. Short title
2 This is the Criminal Investigation Amendment Act 2010.
3 2. Commencement
4 This Act comes into operation as follows --
5 (a) sections 1 and 2 -- on the day on which this Act
6 receives the Royal Assent;
7 (b) the rest of the Act -- on the day after that day.
8 3. Act amended
9 This Act amends the Criminal Investigation Act 2006.
10 4A. Section 73 amended
11 In section 73 insert in alphabetical order:

13 midwife means a person registered under the Health
14 Practitioner Regulation National Law (Western
15 Australia) whose name is entered on the Register of
16 Midwives kept under that Law;

18 4. Section 103 amended
19 In section 103(3) in the Table --
20 (a) in item 4 delete "Doctor" and insert:

22 Doctor, or a qualified person who is a nurse,
23 midwife or other prescribed person

25 (b) in item 6 delete "Doctor" and insert:

27 Doctor, or a qualified person who is a nurse,
28 midwife or other prescribed person
