An Act to amend the Mental Health Act 1996.



The Parliament of Western Australia enacts as follows:

1    1.         Short title
2               This is the Mental Health Amendment Act 2012.

3    2.         Commencement
4               This Act comes into operation on the day on which it receives
5               the Royal Assent.

6    3.         Act amended
7               This Act amends the Mental Health Act 1996.

8    4.         Section 26 amended
9         (1)   Delete section 26(1)(b)(ii) and insert:
10

11                             (ii)     to protect the person from self-inflicted
12                                      serious financial harm; or
13

14        (2)   Delete section 26(2).
