A Bill for
An Act to amend the Valuation of Land Act 1978.
The Parliament of Western Australia enacts as follows:

1 1. Short title
2 This is the Valuation of Land Amendment Act 2015.
3 2. Commencement
4 This Act comes into operation as follows --
5 (a) sections 1 and 2 come into operation on the day on
6 which this Act receives the Royal Assent (assent day);
7 (b) the rest of the Act --
8 (i) comes into operation on 30 June 2015 if assent
9 day is not later than that day; or
10 (ii) is deemed to have come into operation on
11 30 June 2015 if assent day is later than that day.
12 3. Act amended
13 This Act amends the Valuation of Land Act 1978.
14 4. Section 4 amended
15 (1) In section 4(1) in the definition of unimproved value:
16 (a) in paragraph (b)(ii)(I) delete "rent that would be
17 payable" and insert:

19 annual rent that would be used to calculate unimproved
20 value under item (II) or (III)

22 (b) delete paragraph (b)(ii)(II), (III) and (IV) and insert:

24 (II) an exploration licence is held
25 under the Mining Act 1978 --
26 (A) 2.5 times the annual
27 rent payable for the
28 licence under that Act
29 if it is the first year of

1 the term of the licence;
2 or
3 (B) 2.5 times the annual
4 rent that would be
5 payable for the licence
6 under that Act if it
7 were the first year of
8 the term of the licence;
9 or
10 (III) any other licence or a lease is
11 held under the Mining
12 Act 1978 -- 5 times the annual
13 rent payable for the licence or
14 lease under that Act; or
15 (IV) a licence or lease is held under
16 the Petroleum and Geothermal
17 Energy Resources Act 1967 --
18 2.5 times the annual fee payable
19 for the licence or lease under
20 that Act; or
21 (VA) a permit or drilling reservation
22 is held under the Petroleum and
23 Geothermal Energy Resources
24 Act 1967 -- the annual fee
25 payable for the permit or
26 drilling reservation under that
27 Act; or

29 (2) In section 4(1) in the definition of unimproved value after
30 paragraph (b)(ii)(I) insert:
