(1) If —
(a) a
court convicts a person of an offence against this Act; and
(b) the
person has previously been convicted of 2 or more offences against this Act,
the court may, in
addition to imposing any other penalty imposed under this Act, order —
(c) that
the person is banned from owning or keeping a cat permanently or for the
period specified in the order; or
(d)
that, despite any other provision of this Act, the person is to take immediate
action to ensure that any, or all, cats owned by the person, as is specified
in the order, are —
(i)
microchipped; or
(ii)
sterilised,
or both.
(2) A court that makes
an order under this section is to ensure that a copy of the order is provided
to the local government for the district in which the person subject to the
order lives.
(3) An order under
this section may be enforced as if it were a judgment of the court.
